A major 7.6 earthquake hit east of Sulangan, Philippines on Friday, August 31, 2012, at 12:47:34 UTC, at a depth of 34.9 km (21.7 mi).  A tsunami warning was issued at 14:54Z for Indonesia, the Philippines and Belau, which has since been cancelled.

Jesus said these signs would appear before He returns, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in various places" Matthew 24:7.  "There will be great earthquakes in various places, famines and pestilences and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven" Luke21:11.

Jesus also said, "When you see these things, know that it is near (His return), even at the doors" Matthew 24:33.

The graph below shows the drastic increase in earthquake activity between 2010 and 2011 (look closely at the 2011 increase on the graph near the border).  Since 2011, the stats continue to soar, especially for "great" earthquakes.
