A great 7.4 magnitude earthquake hit 80 km east of Kathmandu, Nepal, on May 12, 2015, at 07:05:20 UTC, at a depth of 14 km, reported Geoscience Australia.


At least 37 people have been confirmed dead, with 1,139 reportedly injured at this time.


This is the second great earthquake to hit Nepal in the last 17 days. A great 7.8 magnitude quake hit Nepal on April 25, 2015, killing 4,800 people. Two major 6.7 aftershocks also hit Nepal within that same time period.
