Update: The China Premier Li Keqiang visited Sichuan on Sunday to oversee relief work in the area and the latest death toll has risen to 179. 1.5 million people were reportedly affected by the quake.

A major 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Sichuan, China, on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 00:02:47 UTC, at a depth of 12 km (8 mi).

At least 156 people are reported dead, with more than 5,500 injured in southwestern Sichuan. This morning's earthquake triggered landslides, shut power and phones down and destroyed every building in Longmen.

58 major (>5.9) earthquakes hit various places over the last 79 days. Among these were nine 7+ and one 8.1 magnitude quakes!

Jesus said, "Great earthquakes shall be in diverse places, famines and pestilences and there shall be fearful sights and great signs from heaven" Luke 21:11. 

During the previous 24 months, there have been at least 190 major (>5.9) earthquakes reported on this site.    

Jesus said these signs would appear before He returns, "Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines, pestilences and earthquakes in diverse places" Matthew 24:7.

Jesus also said, "Blessed are those servants whom the Master, when He comes, will find watching" Luke 12:37.
