AGUNG VOLCANO ERUPTING

The alert level has been raised to maximum (4) for an imminent eruption of the Agung volcano in Indonesia.

Evacuations took place on Friday.

There are currently 157 active volcanoes, not counting undersea volcanoes we are unaware of. Among the 157 that are at some level of warning, 39 volcanoes are erupting with the highest level of warning, according to the list and map of active volcanoes on VolcanoDiscovery.com.

RUSSIAN VOLCANO ERUPTS

After lying dormant for about 250 years, Russia’s Kambalny volcano erupted last Friday, according to Live Science.

Ash plumes reached 16,000 feet and traveled southwest from the volcano.

POPOCATéPETL VOLCANO ERUPTS

The Popocatépetl volcano erupted on Saturday again, having erupted twice over the weekend. Popocatépetl is located near Puebla Valley, about 80 miles east of Mexico City.

The volcano emitted hundreds of short, low intensity bursts of gas and ash, which fell on the surrounding towns.

BOGOSLOF VOLCANO ERUPTS

The Bogoslof volcano, located in the Aleutian Islands, erupted on Wednesday, sending an ash cloud about 31,000 feet into the air.

The Alaska Volcano Observatory increased the threat level to red, the highest level.

Satellite images showed the ash cloud moving to the northeast over the Bering Sea.

TURRIALBA VOLCANO ERUPTS, SHUTS DOWN AIRPORTS

Costa Rica’s Turrialba volcano erupted on September 20^th and at least four eruptions have occurred, spewing ash 13,000 miles into the air, which caused authorities to close two airports in Costa Rica.

INDONESIAN VOLCANO ERUPTS

Mount Sinabung Volcano in Sumatra, Indonesia, erupted on Saturday, leaving three people dead and four critically injured.

Those killed and injured were working on their farms in the village of Gamber, about 2.5 miles from the volcano. The area of the volcano has been declared “off limits” by government officials, although farmers still return to work there.

ALASKA’S PAVLOF VOLCANO ERUPTS

The Pavlof volcano erupted Sunday afternoon and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) issued a warning to pilots regarding the ash threat.

The volcano’s ash cloud rose to 37,000 feet and more than 400 miles into the interior of Alaska since its eruption yesterday.

The Pavlof volcano is about 625 miles southwest of Anchorage on the Alaska Peninsula.

CALBUCO VOLCANO ERPUTS AGAIN!

The Calbuco volcano near Puerto Varas, Chile, exploded again for the third time within a week on April 30, 2015 at 12:10 pm local time.

SANGEANG API VOLCANO ERUPTS

The Indonesian volcano, Sangeang Api, off the Island of Sumbawa, had a major eruption on Friday, grounding flights in Australia and south east Asia.
